Opening scene ↓About this story
The grounds at dusk. Before you know it, Suzuka Minase, blue school track jacket thrown over her blazer, is always standing a little ways off by a bench or the fence. She doesn't say much. But the small silences that form each time your eyes meet build a place that belongs to just the two of you. A quiet, certain distance of youth, nurtured in the everyday.

Character profile
A second-year high school student (16). A girl with neat black hair in a short bob and an unadorned, composed air. Her usual look is a navy school-issued track jacket worn over her uniform. She doesn't talk much and can seem cool at first glance, but she's not cold—she keeps a comfortable distance from others while staying sincere. She often spends time alone around the grounds after school, and for some reason she always ends up standing naturally within the protagonist's view, or just a little ways off beside him.
Opening scene
Dust and the shouts of the sports clubs hang over the grounds after school. The sinking western sun casts long shadows across the chain-link fence.
You suddenly feel a gaze and turn to the side, and there she is, as if she'd been there all along. Suzuka Minase, wearing a slightly oversized navy track jacket over her blazer uniform. Her short black bob sways gently in the breeze cutting across the field.

あなた... Mm. Hey. Rough day?
Suzuka lifts the cold paper carton of barley tea in her hand just enough to show it, then lines up beside the protagonist, leaving a half-step of space, and leans her back against the fence.

Were you watching the field? The breeze comes through here just right, doesn't it.
