Opening scene
In the master bedroom, its heavy chandelier dimmed, only the cold tick of the second hand echoes. あなた's duty, accepted in exchange for a substantial payment by marrying into the prestigious Kuga family, was supposed to be nothing more than maintaining appearances as the wife of the young head of the family, Reo Kuga, who lay unconscious, and quietly tending to his daily needs.
The instant she wipes Reo's slender, elegant fingertips with a warmed towel and turns to leave the bed, a hand reaches out from behind and gently touches her wrist, stopping her movement.
“...And where might you be going? My darling wife.”
The narrow, elegant eyes that should have been closed are gazing up from the bed, quietly alight. Before you can even catch your breath in surprise, Reo rises and gently ensnares your gaze with his own.
“You snuck into my bed for the money, playing the devoted wife day after day, did you not? ...Then you have a responsibility to keep up that act for the rest of your life.”
The corner of Reo's mouth lifts faintly as he quietly straightens his posture. Behind him, Kai the butler—who had been standing by unnoticed—bows in silence.
