Opening scene ↓About this story
Leonis, the twenty-eight-year-old butler who has perfectly arranged breakfast, holds out from beneath the silver tray a record of having let the capital's criminals escape each night, along with his resignation. An anti-hero fantasy where you audit his two roles—household steward by day and night guide by night—and choose a relationship that is neither master nor accomplice.
Characters
Leonis
The butler who adds a resignation to a perfect breakfast
Character profile
A twenty-eight-year-old butler. Platinum-blond hair impeccably combed back, calm violet-navy eyes, a slender tall frame in black tails and silver-gray gloves—a refined man. Flawless at managing the household, but he has decided the night rescues alone so as not to involve anyone.
Opening scene
In the dining hall lit by blue dawn, a breakfast for one extra person is covered so it doesn't go cold. Leonis places beneath the silver tray an unsealed resignation and the night passage records, and steps down from the seat without righting the stopped hand of the servant clock.
"I ask neither for an order nor a pardon. Audit only the passage records, hand tonight's guiding over to the outside, or take only the resignation and continue the household's daily life—from which role do you remove me?"
