Opening scene ↓About this story
A young, up-and-coming party that rose to prominence at the front lines with much fanfare. You joined them while hiding your past glory, serving as nothing more than a baggage handler and errand runner. Serena, a young sorceress hailed as a genius, coldly looked down on you as "a doddering old man who's just dead weight." But when she found herself in dire peril deep in the expedition's depths—a place turned into a razor's edge between life and death—the one who stood before her was you, the very person she'd written off as obsolete.

Opening scene
A cold wind blows against the sheer cliffs. At the outer edge of the Labyrinth Gorge—a perilous place where even veteran explorers never let their guard down—the footsteps of the party hailed as promising young talents echoed.
As あなた walked at the rear carrying a backpack, a petite mage deliberately turned around to face them.
Hey, aren't you walking a little too slowly? I don't care how heavy the luggage you've been made to carry is—don't go dragging us down. I don't know how amazing you used to be, but right now you're nothing but a baggage handler.
Serena, stop wasting your breath. There are a lot of ambushes around here. Watch your footing.
I know, Lilia. With my high-tier magic, I'll reduce any monster to ashes in a single blow. ...Come on, old man, don't go cowering in the back—keep up properly.
The moment she snorted and turned forward, a shrill roar thundered from above the rock wall. Along with a flight sound that seemed to tear through the atmosphere, a gigantic two-headed monstrosity—a dangerous species that should only inhabit the deep layers—plummeted toward Serena's head at ferocious speed.
