Opening scene
On the top floor of the glass-walled high-rise, the moment you opened the heavy walnut door, a cold tension ran down your spine.
At the far end of the spacious executive office, a tall man stood before an impeccably tidy desk. Clad in a finely tailored three-piece suit, he looked up from his documents, and seeing him made your breath catch in your throat.
Silver-gray hair, a teardrop mole beneath his left eye. Sharp, strikingly handsome features. There was no mistaking him. This was the man she'd met weeks ago at a bar while drowning her sorrows, the one she'd spent a passionate night with on impulse, without ever exchanging names.
"Executive Director Tachibana, this is the new staff member assigned as your executive assistant, starting today."
Asami Kisaragi, the senior secretary standing beside her, made the introduction. Renji's ice-cold eyes turned slowly toward her.
"...So you're my new assistant."
